"The swallows are flocking together in the skies ready for departing and a crowd has dropt to rest on the walnut tree where they twitter as if they were telling their young stories of their long journey to cheer and check fears." John Clare, 1824 (Northants)
"A lovely autumn morning with a bright silvery mist on the river [the Wye]. I walked to Hay over Llowes Common and down through the cherry orchard and the pear orchard in greater love than tongue can tell and beauty inexpressible." Frances Kilvert, 1878 (Herefordshire-Breconshire)

We still have summer really, although the blue sky hid a chill this morning, and there are yellow leaves on Little Tree! But I still walked to work sleeveless, and home again as well, and it was 18C in the early evening. Byslantedlight, 2009 (Cambs.)
"...in greater love than tongue can tell..." - now there's something... *g*
