26th April

"Beech spotted like a rout with the separate shadows of its young leaves... Leaf-strewn ground... beech mast under beeches; beech leaves 9 inches deep drifted against felled tree." Richard Jefferies, 1883 (Sussex)

2009

Another perfect day...

Horse chestnuts with huge white blossoms - candles, indeed! - raggedy white flowers growing amongst the lush green grass that's everywhere now, and the sun on everything!

2010

Rather grey-skied all day, but also touching on warm with it - a wee bit muggy, almost, I hope it's not going to be one of those summers! Dramatic clouds this eveing, though - and are those green leaves I see on Smaller Tree Across the Road?!

Stunning red and yellow contrast to the gravestones. And I like your last photo, the dark clouds, the pole directly beneath the light shining through, this looks almost biblical to me. :-)

Just happened to take a closer look on the second picture. A very effective frame for the church.
