Since the hubby is going to do the painting, and he's waiting for drier weather, as well as some free time, I'm going to post this before painting.  It will be the same white color as the house, so you should get a good idea.

  That's right, I pushed the button and watched it go up and down for several minutes!

13 April 2008, When I woke up, I saw the hubby out mowing the lawn and I went out to tell him I was up, and I saw this.

I went and inspected a little closer, and here is the picture I've been waiting patiently to post!

TaDa!!!!  My car is parked INSIDE the garage!!!!!

Now, just to cement my reputation as a bald eagle obsessed mad woman, here is a close up of my license plate.

I'm so giddy!  Of course there are a few little finishing touches which need to be completed, like the painting, but we have a proper GARAGE!!!

Thanks, I think it is one of the more popular patterns, both my brothers, who live in Texas, have the same pattern as well.

Yes .. this is where in Book 3 they left good bits out, we got some, but it is wrong to assume everyone who sees the movies has also read the books.

Very true, they left a LOT out of the third movie, and I don't know why, it wasn't that long.

The hubby hasn't read any of the books at all, but watches the movies. I'm under strict orders not to let any plot bits slip in front of him, so he doesn't know what is going to happen before he sees the movie.

My husband gives me a running commentary of the first 3 ... he does not like 4 and 5, so I have to watch them on my own, which is best ... much quieter :)

I usually go during the daytime when the kids are still in school, but since it's in November, I may have to make sure they are in school before going.
Of course, I buy the DVDs as soon as they come out as well.

The movies always come out to coincide with school holidays and the noise from them would be too much for my husband (he wears a hearing aid and it picks up everything). Better when it is quieter. Only 7 more months ... and then there is going to be a bit of a gap for the last movie ... the wait is going to be painful.

I wear a hearing aid on occasion and I completely understand how loud kids in a theater can be. For the last two movies, when I went during the day, it was 99% adults and only a handful of kids, very nice!
Waiting for the last one is going to be very difficult.

OMG !

I wear hearing aids too (both ears) ... when watching TV ... we have a loop going under the large mat in the lounge ... cuts out all other noise and you can just hear the sound coming from the telly.

Don't wearing them any other time as they pick up too much ... even if it is quiet, they will pick up the motor from the fridge.

If I'm by myself, I wear them for TV, but they do make the regular house noises way too loud. The cats sound like elephants when they run on the wood floor.

Aww, congratulations on finally being able to put the car away again! And I love your number plate - we aren't allowed pretty ones like that in this country, ours are plain and boring. Or I could have - oooh, let me see - a blackbird, maybe or a blue tit? A crow? LOL! Perhaps not. But a bald eagle, oh that's quite something!

Thanks, it is such a thrill! Yes, I'm easily amused. I've never lived anywhere with an automatic garage door, I think I'll be fiddling with it for a few days.

They have a variety of options for car plates these days, they are all the rage over here. They're more expensive than regular plates (Gary's car has a regular plate), but less expensive than personalized plates with something clever spelled out. They also have plates for specific colleges, the Seattle Mariner's (baseball), Orca whales, historic lighthouses, firemen and police ones as well. When we move back to Texas, I already have my optional plate picked out because they offer a plate for the Dallas Mavericks!!!

I think all cars should have a garage! Of course I'm overjoyed with my new garage, I'm sure I'll be raising and lowering the automatic door on a regular basis! There are a couple of numbers after the 007 in my plate but I didn't put them in the photo, because 007 is way cooler!

I am deeply envious of an automatic door! No, scratch that, I am deeply envious of being able to put your car in the garage. English homes are often mean with garage space, and we have only a single garage. When we moved here, my husband took priority because he went to work much earlier than me and didn't want to have to defrost the car each morning - it's usually melted by the time I go to work. But it's very odd, now that he is retired and doesn't need to go out at all, it's still his car in the garage and mine out in the cold. Funny that! But he'd probably argue that his twenty-five year old Merc needs to be cossetted.
You would be very envious of a friend of mine whose number plate starts with CI5! And yes, of course, she's a Pros fan!

Having a CI5 plate is definitely bringing on the jealousy, wouldn't that be fun? Most Americans who do have garages, usually end up with more stuff in them than cars. Our garage in San Diego also doubled as the laundry room (it wasn't attached to the house),nor did it have an automatic door.
Maybe M thinks that since he...well...um...no, I have no idea why his car is still in the garage rather than yours.

I've got space for a garage, but my house is built on a two-way slope. The back garden slopes up from the house, and it also slopes from side to side. If I could get the slope sorted out I could have a garage. Unfortunately getting the slope levelled would cost a lot more money than I've got.

Sorting out that much slope sounds as if it might be more expensive than a garage. When they have to bring in big machines is when the cost really start escalating.

It's a bit of a pain, but on the other hand when the rest of the world is flooded our house is likely to escape because the water can run off in at least two directions at once. I'll have to see if a photo will show the problem.

Thanks, the contractor and I were discussing that just the other day. It does seem to have almost all the amenities of a house. Tonight is my photography class, and since the hubby moved my car into the garage, I get to attempt for the first time, backing out without smacking in to anything!
