16th to 18th February

16 February: A bit cloudy out and a male house finch...

17 February:  For the duration of the Olympics, Fergus has a standing appointment on Wednesdays to go to Doggy Day Care.  We thought it was only fair that during this time of disrupted schedules that he should have some fun.  So, I took him to day care, but didn't need to do any shopping or anything.  So, what to do with myself?  Go to the park, of course!  The first park area I went to was Semiahmoo (no clue what that's about) which has some beachy seaside stuff going on.  First off the general beachy type photos...

Group of Northern Pintails

Next I went up the road a bit to have lunch and check out the harbor and stuff.

Yeah, don't harass the seals!!!!  Unfortunately there were no seals about for me to harass...I mean photograph.

Now, back to the park to look at the displays, etc.
Oh dear.  This is quite the brightest and shiniest totem pole ever.  Perhaps because it was done in 1962.  Most of the totem poles around here are far more muted.

WARNING!!!! Historical Racism Ahead!!!!!!!  One of the buildings in the park (which were all closed for the season) was the cannery museum.  However, there was a piece of equipment outside with a sign explaining it and what it was called (that's where the racism comes in).

Now, as an aside, I decided to take pictures of a proper mountain.  This is Mt. Baker which is hidden by the mountain by my house.

Next stop, Tennet Lake park.  I knew, by reading the parks website, that the boardwalk there (which goes through the marshes) was partly submerged, but I wanted to check it out for future trips with Mr. Mav and Fergus.  They have a tower from which to overlook the marsh, so I climbed it and looked out.  You can see the submerged bit of path right below the tower.

Then on to the grocers to do a very small bit of shopping.  Look what greeted me in the parking lot!!!!!!!!

18 February: Clear blue skies with a scattering of crows.

It must be nice to live near the seaside, how long does it take you by car? And it seems spring has already arrived at your place! It really looks warm to me. :-)

Lovely collection of shots there. The blossom is nice and cheerful, especially as we had snow here again today!

In honesty, we're not really snowbound - it melted yesterday, although there are a few lumps of ice left :-). It's still bloody cold though.
