"I was called up this morning before four o'clock. It was full light to dress myself: and so by water against tide, it being a little cool, to Greenwich; and thence, only that it was somewhat foggy till the sun got to some height, walked with great pleasure to Woolwich, in my way staying several times to listen to the nightingales." Samuel Pepys, 1664 (Kent)
"As we came down the lower slopes of the wooded hillside into the glade of the park the herds of deer were moving under the brown oaks and the brilliant green hawthorns." Francis Kilvert, 1876 (Herefordshire)

Another pretty morning at 6.15am, although this one I could see... Remember that field of yellow rape the other day? This is how it looks usually.

The mist was all in the distance... and as before it burned away to another gorgeous summer-y day.
And at nearly 9.00pm there was still light in the sky, though some cloud too now.

Another gorgeous Spring day today - blue skies, a cool breeze - and another gorgeous sunset, and today I did go running up the hill to see! The oddest thing - as I came back, I passed a particular spot, a lone tree, and it was as if I'd walked into a wall of cold - all of a sudden there was chill in the air, a cold that went through to my bones... I couldn't see anything to suggest I'd walked into a particular pocket of colder air - I wasn't higher or lower or more shadowed than I'd been a moment before...very odd, it was!

And because I was playing around with my camera, and with the pics afterwards...

It was a rather impressive sunset - one of those giant balls of fire in the sky ones. Interesting to see that this time last year the sunsets looked rather similar!

And then I saw that the moon was up too, just by the blossoms (which smelled gorgeous too - it was ever so quiet and peaceful and beautiful up there, tonight!)

Looking back, I realised someone had laid in a fire that sent a wreath of smoke across the village...

And there were primroses on the bank...

...and blossoms against the sunset sky...

I decided I rather liked this blurred view, so you get to see it too!
