Some of you will no doubt remember that last year I went to Forde Abbey - a stately home and garden in Somerset, in fact I went a couple of times. Photographer's paradise, it was, in mid-summer. When last Saturday promised to be fine, we decided to go down to see what the gardens looked like at this time of year. It's usually a good time to see the skeleton of a garden which can be quite interesting and I may have heard they had some hellebores, just possibly...Take a spriing stroll round the gardens of Forde Abbey with me! )

On my way home from a meeting the other day I stopped off at Coaley Peak View Point to take a picture of my favourite tree just at twilight. Here it is - somne of you will have seen photographs of it in many moods and weathers, I have been taking them for several years!

The Daily Telegraph last week had a special token, so if you spent a certain sum, you got £10 extra. Which I should have used on groceries, shouldn't I, since we could finally get out of our road and out of the town after the snow melted and we were due a supermarket shop.
But, you know, dear reader, I didn't. I spoiled myself. I bought a bunch of peonies and a bunch of chrysanthemums, because they just looked so gorgeous. And I have had more than a week of immense pleasure from watching them come out - oh, and I took the odd photograph or two. You know me...If you are not into pink frou-frou, do not go here! )

A Leaf!

Okay, so this is a measure of my weirdness!
Whizzing out to the garage to get something from the freezer this morning, I noticed a single leaf in one of the pots next to the door. An almost perfect skeleton leaf, a golden filigree! I was delighted. Yes, I know that's a bit strange but I love skeleton leaves, you can really see the exquisite structure of the leaf, they are so beautiful and this is nature's throwaway debris. So I rushed for the camera(s) and took a photograph. Or two. Okay, quite a lot of photographs. And then I wondered whether it would show up better on a light surface. Or on dark wood. Or on a log. So I experimented a bit. And here is my skeleton leaf - on various backgrounds...
Do double click on any of them that appeal for a closer look!

As I found it in the planter.                                                             On a marbled tile in my kitchen...

The leaf wanders more under here... )

Sunrise

It was a glorious sunrise yesterday morning - such a lovely start to the day to see this.

Yes, it's another of my travelogues!
And, mostly Germany! After all, we spent the first day travelling, and most of the time on the other side of the Channel that day was in pitch darkness, so not many photo-opps there then! So this includes the odd shot of Wiltshire and Kent!
It's ages since I posted here so I hope friends who see this on my LJ will skip on by and that others might enjoy a glimpse of this lovely area.
Read more with lots of pics under the cut... )

Cross-posted to my LJ!I've been enjoying [info]msmoat's posts about running, so much and that peaceful time in the early morning sounds blissful, the world, mainly, to yourself and time to think . Lovely. And I know that I would benefit from more exercise, I really do tend to be a couch potato!  So when I woke up (not as early as you, I'm afraid,[info]msmoat but early for me) just before seven this morning and spied a beautiful morning, I decided to take myself out for a walk. I left a note just  in case someone woke up and wondered where I was and set off with just my house keys, phone and, of course, my camera in my pocket!

I'll try not to go on too long with this - some of the scenes are very commonly available, so my pictures tend to look a lot more at unusual or quirky things, too. So do float on by if you are getting bored!

Having been stuck in the office and in very frustrating meetings on a beautiful day the other day , I took myself for a stroll after work, just to enjoy the early evening air.

Day 2 and our local guide Ivana took us on a walk round the Old Town.

Many piccies below the cut!
Cross posted to my LJ - apologies to those who get it twice!

I seem to have been doing a lot of dashing away recently, though conspicuously not with a smoothing iron.( that, I just realised,  is a reference to an old song which just popped into my head and will probably only sound familiar to Brits of a similar vintage to me who also sang it in Primary school!)

My f-list have put up apparently cheerfully with being pic-spammed with photographs of my travels and of flowers galore. Now for something a little different!

[personal profile] mav_fan and I have been comparing notes for weeks on the state of our respective tree buds, so seeing the lovely sequence she has just posted has inspired me to finally get round to putting these up, too. Unfortunately, my blossom will not result in luscious cherries (possibly my favourite fruit!) as it is just an ornamental one. Still, it is quite ornamental!

I am way behind on posting, but have visited several gardens recently of which I have an unbelievable number of photographs, so here goes for a quick catch up! Lots of piccies below!

Hyacinths!

Every year I grow some Delft Blue hyacinths because I love them. I love watching those wonderful flowers emerge from those dry looking bulbs and I love the perfume scenting my porch so that I smell them every time I come in or go out.  And this year I did a sort of time lapse on them to post here on scene_again!

Considering I rarely travel far from home, this week has been somewhat exceptional and I have clocked up 600 miles in less than a week. that's a lot for me! The first 200 was my trip to Heathrow, the second 200 my trip to Birmingham about which I posted yesterday, and yesterday we went to Dormy Lake to watch our daughter run in a 10km charity race. And yes, that is about 10 miles from Heathrow - that stretch of M4 is becoming familiar!

For many years now, I have travelled to Birmingham, about 100 miles North, on Good Friday to meet my best friend G.

Seeing that rainbows are attracting attention, here are some of a rainbow which I took from my front door on 11th May 2007. On these, too, the sky under the rainbow seems to be a different colour! I think it looks as though the area underneath is inside a soap bubble!
