"Hail, stormy, strong wind. The wind broke off the great elm in the churchyard short in two; the head of which injured the yew tree... Many tulips and other flowers are injured by the hail." Gilbert White, 1779 (Hampshire)

Such a perfect, beautiful Summer-Spring day! The world is green, the sky was blue, it was warm and sunny with a refreshing breeze... Byslantedlight, 2009 (Cambs.)

Okay, this is a little spooky - not only was the 24th a gorgeous Summer-Spring day last year as well, but I didn't post my Scene_again until the day after then, either! Eep!

A gorgeous, gorgeous day - blue skies and warm, flowers flowering for all they can, just a bit of a breeze to keep it civilised... and you know it's nearly Summer in Cambs. when there are Spitfires flying in formation...

"The nightingale is now nearly in every bush." Richard Hayes, 1764 (Kent)

"The Ring-dove hangs on its wings, and toys in the air." Gilbert White, 1777 (Hampshire)

"...came slipping, sliding, scrambling down the precipitous path of deep red mud, greasy with the rain... In a field adorned with a noble pear tree of majestic height and growth in full blossom I found cowslips and the first blue-bells and the young ferns uncurling their crozier heads." Francis Kilvert, 1876 (Herefordshire)

Another lovely day, from morning to magic hour. There were clouds, but they blew past quickly, and the sun shone all the way through, and it was warm with a light breeze and just my favourite kind of day! There are flowers everywhere, and fields of yellow - though the postmistress told me that her husband who farms half the rape in the area, says that allergies may well be getting worse because of the way the crops are bred to be more and more resistant to various natural hazards - the pollen is more aggressively strong too, and that's what sets everyone off more and more... His grown up daughter escaped to the seaside this year, because it made her asthma so bad. She also said that it's cropped early this year, which I'd been thinking, but wasn't sure... Woke to rain this morning - though by the time I'd driven up to north Norfolk the sun was out and things felt a little steamy. The village cricket teams were out, and I don't think they were rained on, though it stayed cloudy, and felt as if it might start again at any moment... And look at the night sky - taken around 9.10pm (and from my car, so sorry for the blurriness!) Byslantedlight, 2010 (Cambs. and Norfolk)
