Since today was not such a great day; the Mavericks lost (in an entirely winnable game) yesterday, ending their season, fired their coach today (the fastest coach in the history of the NBA to reach 50 wins, 100 wins, and 150 wins), then after reading what I wrote today I realized it was not only really bad, but completely redundant, I thought maybe it was time to get together a post!  Always a great mood lifter!

This is the progress on one particular branch of my cherry tree.  It produces Rainier cherries (local name) and I don't know what they are called elsewhere.  When ripe they are mostly yellow with some red on them and are delicious.

Picture heavy, not too dial up friendly.

Try to ignore the hideous propane tank!

19 February - the buds are still small and very tightly closed.    21 February, not much change.

4 March                                                                                              8 March

12 March - at this point I'm doubting Spring will arrive, ever.      14 March - The branch is wet!

20 March                                                                                             27 March, the buds are starting to loosen!

29 March - Are you kidding me?????                                           2 April - They've recovered from the snow!

8 April                                                                                                   14 April, finally!

18 April - Now things start moving along!                                       19 April

23 April - The blossoms are blossoming!                                   24 April

25 April                                                                                                27 April

29 April

Gee, that made me feel better.  Hope you enjoyed.  This is not the only tree I've been snapping, look forward to other trees and other views of this tree later.

Further testament to the hardy nature of our cherry tree.

I could not find a picture of our cherry tree when it was in tact, but as you can see here, it used to be larger.  The felled part was blown down by a windstorm (not the one which necessitated a new garage).  Taken in November 2006, a week after it fell.

This morning, I looked out the window and spied something which made me rush outside in my pyjamas to investigate.  There is a pile of lumber, twigs and branches which has been sitting there for several months.  The hubby has tried to burn it twice now (and I know fire is beneficial to plant life sometimes and I'm sure his latest attempt to burn the rubbish helped bring this about).  Mind, these branches have been disconnected from the tree since Summer.  This is the whole pile as it appears this morning.

Upon closer inspection:
