On my way home from a meeting the other day I stopped off at Coaley Peak View Point to take a picture of my favourite tree just at twilight. Here it is - somne of you will have seen photographs of it in many moods and weathers, I have been taking them for several years!
17.35.44

As I sometimes do, while I was watching the sky change, as it does so rapidly at this time of day, I also took a picture looking North-West towards Gloucester. You can see the River Severn in the vale there, the tide is in, by the look of it so the river is full and it catches the light like a silver ribbon winding it's way through the landscape. Serene, isn't it?
17.43.53

A couple of minutes later, I noticed it was looking a bit misty in that direction....
17.46.13

And then a bit mistier still... watch that cloud blowing in from the North...
17.47.51

Beginning to look quite ominous now...
17.48.38

Threatening, even! River? What river?
17.51.48

And as a bit of dampness was beginning to fall
17.52.04

and I was wondering whether it would be rain, hail or snow falling in a few moments, when I noticed that ...
17.53.20

it was quite a small cloud and behind it...
17.54.44

the landscape was clearing as the cloud tracked down the river...
17.55.49

and soon...
17.57.49

it had gone and the vale was clear again. And no rain fell where I was but I imagine it was pretty wet under that cloud as it moved along!
18.01.09

This fascinated me - I've never seen such a clear storm cloud pass in front of me like that, in just about fifteen minutes!
And here you can just see the cloud, still tracking the river, in the far distance behind the tree.

As I said - just a passing cloud!
