Ah, I see it was June and especially July when I was rubbish at keeping up last year... not quite as rubbish as this though, and there's no way I can catch up now, but... let's see if normal service might resume again...
21st July
"The planet Mars figures every evening and makes a golden and splendid show. This planet being in opposition to the sun, is now near us, and consequently bright." Gilbert White, 1781 (Hampshire)
"On the beach at Hunstanton. The sun a round plate of red gold dipping near the Sea among lilac-gray clouds - the Sea itself steel colour with a touch of yellow in it. Due north it is grand to think there is nothing between yourself and the ice-bergs... (N.B. - Always spell 'Sea' with a capital S, it is only right.) The feet make no sound on the flat wide sands. You hear the sound of your pencil as you write. All human beings have become distant black dots." James Smetham, 1870 (Norfolk)
2009

Falling clouds, sunset... Byslantedlight, 2009 (Cambs.)
2010

Well they've forecast rain for 10 o'clock, but it's two minutes to that now, and the skies are gorgeous, there's a strong breeze finally cooling us down, and the fields are late-summer golden with ripe wheat and grasses. I've heard the harvesters out too, late at night... Byslantedlight, 2010, (Cambs.)
