I have to admit, I've only known green ones as well. It's the wrong size and colour to be a locust, and probably also the wrong climate.

Oh, I had to google, but apparently there are brown grasshoppers (http://www.seftoncoast.org.uk/articles/05winter_grasshoppers.html), so... it looks grasshopper-ish to me, with that back leg! *g*
