"I note that on some trees - sycamore, chestnut, blackthorn - the lower buds open into leaf earlier than those on the upper branches. Mountain-ash, on the contrary, seems to spend its first energies upon its topmost shoots."
George Sturt, 1897 (Surrey)2009

I note that Little Tree is brilliantly green, and that the May is blossoming everywhere this week, and that Spring is absolutely here now... and that both are turned golden by the sun setting, and that curls of clouds sweep the sky, and that everything seems full of warmth and promise!

I note that on the day that started out dry, forecast "mostly dry" and therefore the day that I decided to finally cycle back from work... that first pic is the view from my car window once I
had cycled back from work... and I was a wee bit
damp. It had started out well too - walking to work it was sort of overcast but not glowering, and it almost felt like the beginning of a
Summer's day rather than Spring - that sort of potential of warmth. Just... didn't quite follow through. Ah well - hey-ho, and yeay for cycling for the third time this year even if it was in the rain! And yeay for a slash of promise to the sky later...
